The best crafts for children with photos

1. A Christmas tree

Christmas is a very special time for children. In addition to food and chocolates,  little ones love decorations  and are fascinated by the Christmas tree.

However, while decorating a tree is a lot of fun,  sometimes it is difficult to keep the little ones away from balls and other fragile decorations. In addition, many of them have fun taking them off and putting them back on! We therefore suggest that you create a cardboard Christmas tree here so that the little ones can decorate it with photos of their choice.

Activity to make Christmas balls

Here are the necessary tools:

  • Cardboard or bristol paper for the tree, brown for the trunk and yellow for the star.
  • Velcro.
  • Pictures of family, friends or pets.
  • Scissors.
  • Glue.

What are the steps to follow ?

To start,  draw the outline of a tree on the green cardboard and that of a trunk on the brown cardboard. Then, help your child to cut the tree and the trunk, following the lines. Glue the trunk to the tree and cut a star from the yellow cardboard to decorate the upper part of the tree.

Then  take the photos and draw circles in them, making sure the main subject is in the circle. These photos will serve as Christmas balls. If you want to be a little more original, you can also cut your photos in another way, for example in the shape of a star or a bell.

Then cut out the photos along the lines. If you want your Christmas balls to be stronger and not wrinkle, you can glue your photos to the cardboard. Place the Christmas balls facing the tree.

Then cut small pieces of Velcro. Glue one part on the back of the Christmas balls and the other on the Christmas tree. You just have to unite the balls to the tree. Feel free to modify and change the design according to your tastes!

2. Manual activities for children with photos: cards embroidered with photos

This second idea that we propose to you is very original. It consists of creating embroidered cards with pretty designs and holes for children to embroider themselves. This manual activity is very popular with children. The tools required are as follows:

  • Photos of the child’s loved ones or pets  with lines and contours that fit well.
  • Colored boxes to stick the photos.
  • Glue.
  • Big sewing needles.
  • Scissors.
  • Wool.
  • Markers and feathers.

Steps to follow

To start,  help your child glue the photos to the cardboard to strengthen them. Put enough glue around the edges so that they don’t come off. Cut the cardboard along the edges so that it does not protrude from the photos.

Then draw, with the little one, models or shapes on the photos with a pencil. We recommend that you only draw points and not continuous lines. You can follow existing lines in each photo, like the outlines of clouds, or create shapes that don’t yet exist, like a heart or a star.

Use the needle to make holes in the photos, following the marks. Slightly turn the needle back and forth to make the holes larger. This is important because it will make it easier for the wool to pass through the holes.

You can then  start to embroider the photo cards  that you can hang in the child’s room or on the fridge.

Finally, don’t forget that  the manual activities for children with photos that we have presented to you are very easy to achieve. We are sure you will have a great creative time with the little one! So what are you waiting for to get started?
