Morning Routines To Have A Good Day At School – Being Parents

Morning routines to have a good day at school

Today we are going to remind ourselves of the importance of having personalized routines for the whole family so that the day goes smoothly. To have a good school day, these routines are essential. Today we are going to focus on the morning routines, the first of each morning, the ones that mark how we are going to spend the day.

These morning routines should be considered at the start of the school day. November is a particularly important month, because it is the time when school resumes between the All Saints holidays and those of Christmas. Children will spend more time in school and need to start the day well and know how to start it.

An alarm clock

At the start of the school year, we can buy an alarm clock for our children. This is a good time to start handing them over the responsibility of waking up and getting up on time.

This does not mean that we can forget about them and that we do not have to be careful whether they get up or not. We’ll probably have to go and ask them to get up again and again, as usual (this is the most common thing).

Especially the first week that they use the alarm clock, we will have to be very attentive to the way they behave. We have to wake them up even if their clocks are ringing and we also have to make sure that they dress and eat their breakfast properly.

As they get used to waking up to their own schedule, we can let them sleep a little longer. We just need them to have time to get dressed, have breakfast, pick up their things and be ready to go.

If they are taking the bus, they should be prepared to get to the bus stop on time. If you take them to school, the flexibility in the morning can be a bit more.

Toddlers

With younger children, creating a visual list of the things they have to do and need each morning is a great idea. A list of points that can be referred to as a game as you complete your tasks. Images are important. An example :

  • Clothing – put pictures of pants, shirts, socks, etc.
  • Breakfast – photo of the food.
  • Brushing teeth – image of toothbrush and toothpaste.
  • Things to bring – photo of the backpack, with the snack bag for recess.

    Older children

If the kids are older they won’t need pictures, but a list is still very helpful for them. This list can be placed in different places in the house, in the bedroom, in the bathroom and in the refrigerator.

The importance of breakfast for a good school day

All nutritionists and doctors agree on the importance and benefits of a good breakfast every morning. Breakfast provides energy after a long period of the night when no nutrients have been received. Eating a good breakfast will help children concentrate at school.

If the child does not want to eat a full breakfast, we will have to look for healthy alternatives that provide him with the necessary nutrients to start the morning. We can be, in creating this breakfast, as imaginative as we want.

Creating and maintaining a good morning routine is fundamental to having a good school day. Also, once you get started it’s a lot of fun to follow and it becomes kind of a necessity for everyone. It makes our life easier.

Routines always help. In this case, they will allow us to know, without stopping to think, how to stay organized and how to prepare for each day of school. Children will assimilate them without problems and they will be part of their daily life in no time.
