Almost all children love sweets or desserts. However, as parents, we try to give them healthy, nutritious, homemade foods.

It is for this reason that whenever possible, try to offer them homemade dishes made from natural ingredients. 

We have therefore chosen three cake recipes for children that you can make with them and thus enjoy spending time together.

1. Chocolate cake: a classic

Let’s start with the favorite cakes of children and adults alike: chocolate ones. We have chosen a recipe so easy that even your children alone could make it and the result would be just as spectacular.

Ingredients

  • 100 g of chocolate for pastry
  • 3 eggs
  • 9 tablespoons of sugar
  • 60 g butter
  • 2 tablespoons of flour

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 ° C so that it is hot when you finish the dough.
  2. Melt the chocolate: cut the tablet into small pieces and cook in a double boiler or in the microwave with a teaspoon of water.
  3. Monitor the chocolate to melt properly and mix with a wooden spoon to prevent it from burning and to melt evenly.
  4. Once the chocolate is lukewarm, add the sugar, flour, melted butter and the yolks of the three eggs.
  5. Beat the egg whites so that they are practically snowy and add them to the preparation.
  6. Grease the mold with butter and pour the mixture.
  7. Bake for about 30 minutes at 180 ° C.

Once you have unmolded it and it has cooled, you can make icing sugar icing with colored sprinkles.

2. Strawberry cheesecake (without oven)

If you don’t want your kids to use the oven, we’ve got you covered. Here is the recipe that is most popular with children and without having to use an oven.

Ingredients

  • 200 g of fresh Philadelphia cheese or other
  • 500 ml heavy cream or liquid
  • 40g sugar
  • 1 sachet of powdered gelatin (approximately 7 g)
  • 150 g of dry biscuits
  • 75 g butter
  • 500g strawberries or any other fruit like raspberries, blueberries or blackberries

Preparation

  1. Crush the cookies: you can put them in a bag and crush them with a rolling pin.
  2. Melt the butter then mix it with the cookies until you get a homogeneous mixture.
  3. Fill the bottom of the removable mold with this mixture and press down with a spoon.
  4. Put in the freezer for 15-20 minutes. During this time, mix the gelatin, the cream and the sugar then cook over low heat. Stir continuously until all ingredients are dissolved and prevent the mixture from coming to a boil.
  5. Remove from the heat and add the cream cheese, mix well.
  6. Pour this mixture into the mold, on the first layer with the biscuit. Once warm, refrigerate for 6 hours. 

When you unmold it, cover the top with the fruit and voila!

3. The red-velvet: a classic in a vegan version

We want to take into account all types of diets, so we offer you this cake recipe for children without using ingredients of animal origin. This recipe is therefore totally vegan.

Ingredients

For the sponge cake:

  • 500 ml of vegetable milk (almonds, oats, rice, soy, etc.)
  • 1 teaspoon of oil
  • 500 g flour
  • 250 g of sugar
  • 1 packet of dry yeast
  • The water in which you boiled beets

For the filling and icing:

  • 250g vegan cheese spread
  • 90 g vegetable margarine
  • 100 g icing sugar
  • 150g vegan whipped cream

To decorate: red fruits.

  • raspberries
  • some blackberries
  • strawberries

Preparation

  1. Mix the dry ingredients on the one hand (flour, sugar and baking powder) and the milk (with 12 ml of the water reddened by the beets) with the oil on the other hand. 
  2. Incorporate the two and mix until you obtain a homogeneous paste without lumps.
  3. Grease the mold and pour the dough, then bake at 180 ° C for 40 minutes. Then leave to cool in ambient air or place it in the freezer.
  4. Mix the margarine with the icing sugar and add the cheese spread.
  5. Mix everything together and add the whipped cream. Again, mix until all the ingredients are incorporated.
  6. Once the sponge cake has cooled, cut it into three horizontal parts and alternate layers of cream with sponge cake.
  7. Use a Maryse to cover the entire top of the cake with the cream.
  8. Decorate the top with the fruits and it’s ready!
