The Arabic phone

To start playing, participants should sit on the floor and form a circle, so that everyone can clearly see each other’s faces.

One of the players must put a question into the ear of the player on the right, who must also answer the question put into the ear. This player must then ask a question to the person of his choice and memorize the answer he receives. This process is repeated until the circle is complete.

Each participant should then take turns saying the question out loud and then saying the answer they received. So the questions have nothing to do with the answers. It can be very funny.

The backpack, an ideal game for working on language skills at home

Before starting the game, the participants must establish an order to be followed, so that the first player says aloud: “I am going on a trip and I am carrying in my backpack… ” and complete the sentence with the name of an object, for example “ a ball ”.

Then the next player has to repeat this sentence, but he has to remember the object said by the previous player and add a new one to the list. This is repeated, so that the sentence becomes more and more complicated, until one of the players can no longer remember exactly the series of objects created.

Build a sentence

In this game, you say several words, about four or five. Then each player must invent and write a sentence or a short story that includes all of these words.

To decide who wins, you can choose to set a time limit (about two or three minutes) and, after the set time has passed, read all the sentences or stories aloud.

The goal is that a person outside the game can act as a judge and decide which is the best and the most original. The winner can also be determined on the basis of speed, i.e. the participant who finishes writing first wins.

Sentences with initials

To perform this activity, a letter is spoken aloud at random (for example, “c”). A stopwatch lasting one minute is then activated.

During this time, participants must create a sentence that contains the greatest number of words starting with the letter selected previously. For example, “ Martin eats macaroons with me and Michel”.

At the end of the time, each player must say aloud the sentence he wrote and count the number of words that begin with the letter in question. The participant who builds the sentence with the greatest number of words starting with the defined letter wins. This person will also be responsible for starting a new round and therefore choosing a different letter to form the sentence.

In summary, as you may have seen, there are many options for games and activities to work on language skills at home with the little ones. Just use your imagination and take the time to have fun with your family while you learn. What are you waiting for to have fun with your kids?
